About Dr Anne Dancey

Anne is a highly motivated, conscientious and capable Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon with an established international reputation. Her broad training in plastic and reconstructive surgery has provided a foundation on which to further develop her specialist skills in breast reconstruction, cosmetic surgery, bariatric surgery, lymphoedema and lipoedema surgery.  She enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team and has an active interest in teaching, research and publishing.

She was privileged to work as a consultant at the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust, UK for 5 years and in private practice for over 13 years.  During this time, she gained extensive experience in perforator flaps and has performed over two hundred DIEP flaps.

Her responsibilities included the oversight of plastic surgery professional standards, education, training and communication.

She was appointed as Chair of the BAPRAS specialist interest group for lipoedema and lymphoedema surgery and coauthored definitive UK guidelines for liposuction to help regulate and define the best practice in liposuction. She was appointed as the BAPRAS delegate representing the UK to establish European standards for cosmetic non-surgical and surgical procedures.

She completed a tenure as the UK delegate in the International Confederation of Plastic Surgery Societies (ICOPLAST). ICOPLAST represents over 25,000 aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgeons and aims to improve patient outcomes worldwide and to educate, communicate and advance the specialty of Plastic Surgery globally.

In 2016, she was the first consultant to be awarded a Master of Science in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Practice (MCh PASP). This qualification recognises experienced plastic surgeons who can demonstrate an advanced level of practice and exceptional understanding of the speciality.
